More than 200,000 students from 2,802 schools across Myanmar participated in the two-month long competition aimed at inspiring students to achieve future success
Yangon – 8 December, 2018 – Ovaltine Myanmar today proudly awarded scholarships to winning students of its second 2018 Nationwide Art Drawing Competition – Ovaltine Smart Drawing Contest (2), which held from 15 August till 15 October 2018, and endorsed by the Ministry of Education. The theme this year was “Draw About Your Future Success with Ovaltine”
Followed by the huge success of its first competition held in October last year, this year Ovaltine’s competition attracted participation from 2,802 schools and 254,565 students across the country, that inspired students to think about their future success or ambition in life and allow them to create a creative, meaningful art work about it.
The scholarship awarding ceremony was held today at Novotel Yangon Max on Pyay Road and was attended by the winning students from cities all across Myanmar such as Hpa-An in Kayin State, Mandalay Division, Bago Division, Kyauktan, Yangon, and their family members.
“Following the success of last year competition, we collaborated again with Ovaltine this year for the Ovaltine Smart Drawing Contest (2),which also receivedvery strongparticipationandpositivefeedbackfromstudents,teachersandparents.Weareglad that Ovaltine brought this competition back to schools this year and have successfully hosted the awarding ceremony today. Having a strong education is a foundation for future success and this competition will remind our students of the need to balance work hard and staying healthy,” said Daw Khin Mar Swe, Deputy Director General from Department of Basic Education under Yangon Region Education Office.
Scholarships were given out to winners of the competition according to three grade categories.
- KG to Grade 2
- Grade 3 to Grade 5
- Grade 6 to Grade 8.
Three winners in each grade category received scholarships of:
- First Prize: 1 Million Ks
- Second Prize: 500,000 Ks
- Third Prize: 100,000 Ks
Consolation prizes of 50,000 Ks were also given to the fourth and fifth-place winners in each grade category.

We hope the scholarships we have provided to the winning students will support them to achieve their dreams and future success.”
Ma Poe Satt Aung, a 8thGrade student from Kyauktan who is the first placed winner in the Grade 6 to Grade 8 category said that Ovaltine has provided the great platform to share her ambition through art creation and inspired her to dream more of her future.
“I was very excited to participate in this art drawing competition by Ovaltine. It was so much fun to think of a creative way to express my ambition in my drawing. I am so grateful for this amazing opportunity from Ovaltine which I appreciate as it will support me with my further studies,” said Ma Poe Satt Aung.
To participate in the competition, students were required to get the competition form from their school and submit a drawing of their inspiration behind their future success. They could use water-based paint, crayons, pastel or any form of art materials for their drawing. Judging of winners was done with the help of judging panel comprising of experienced artists and cartoonists.
